The theft of a pie from a Dunedin dairy on Saturday, ended up with a female police officer being punched in the eye, police say.
Senior Sergeant Craig Brown said police were called to the George St Night'n Day early on Saturday morning following reports a woman had stolen a pie.
An unemployed woman (22) punched a female officer in her right eye, before being detained, Sen Sgt Brown said.
She has been charged with theft, with more charges likely, he said.
