Fledgling politician John Minto will be in Dunedin today and
will attend several events to switch voters on to the
policies of the Hone Harawira-led Mana Party.
Mr Minto, who is better known for his involvement with the
Halt All Racist Tours (Hart) movement and its opposition to
the 1981 Springbok Tour, joined the Mana Party in May.
He is the co-vice-president of Mana, alongside Annette Sykes,
and he is also the political party's economic policy
spokesman.
Mr Minto will take part in the University of Otago-hosted
Vote Chat series at 2pm - an ongoing political forum, which
is organised by Otago political commentator Dr Bryce Edwards.
Mr Minto will visit Forbury School this morning, before
meeting employees at the Hillside Engineering Workshops in
South Dunedin.
The Manakau East candidate will be the most senior ranked
member of the party at Mana's Dunedin launch, which takes
place at 6pm in the Octagon.
Mr Minto will also meet supporters of the Occupy Octagon
movement, who remain camped out in tents in the city centre
as a means of peaceful protest against the unequal
distribution of global wealth.
