Cyclist killed in central Dunedin

A 54-year-old male cyclist has died in central Dunedin after a collision with a truck on Castle St outside Dunedin Railway Station this morning.

The victim, who appears to have been riding in the cycle lane, was involved in a collision with a logging truck at 7.45am near where the one-way route south meets Stuart St.

He died at the scene of the crash.

Early indications were that the truck was turning into Castle St from Anzac Avenue, police said.

Police are interviewing the driver of the truck, who was uninjured.

Police would like to hear from anybody who witnessed the accident.
