Bomb scare at Dunedin airport

All roads into Dunedin International Airport were blocked this evening following what is believed to be a bomb scare.

Wellington police issued a statement this evening saying they were advised just after 7pm of a "non-specific security threat" regarding a flight bound for Dunedin which had recently departed.

The flight has landed without incident, but passengers faced a 15-minute walk from the runway to a cordon.

Those spoken to said they had not been told why people were unable to meet them at the terminal.

The airport has been evacuated, but those who were told to leave were not told why.

A flight from Auckland has landed, and its passengers are being taken from the plane.

Police were keen to here from anyone who noticed suspicious behaviour in the vicinity of the women's toilets at Wellington airport late this afternoon or early this evening.
