Cyclist killed in Dunedin crash named

The cyclist who died after his bike was in a collision with a car on Brighton Rd on Saturday has been named.

He was Ian Grant Scott (72), of Dunedin.

Dunedin police and the serious crash unit were investigating the accident, acting Senior Sergeant Ben Butterfield said.

A car, being driven by a man and carrying one passenger, had collided with the cyclist about 2pm, but exact details of the crash were unavailable.

Brighton Rd was closed for almost four hours while the police investigated the crash.

Police would like to speak to any witnesses who may have seen the cyclist prior to the incident. Call Dunedin Central police on (03) 471-4800.
