Meeting held to discuss Aoraki Polytechnic

Aoraki Polytechnic staff have gathered at a meeting facilitated by a mediator to discuss the institution's future.

The meeting was arranged so staff could agree on a way forward.

Last year, Tertiary Education Union (TEU) members at the polytechnic participated in a vote of no-confidence in the leadership capabilities of Aoraki chief executive Kay Nelson. The vote was prompted by course reforms, which threatened the jobs of up to 20 staff members.

TEU southern region organiser Kris Smith said staff had some new, agreed processes to work with, following the meeting.
