Lawrie Forbes works to remove old footings on the foundations of the Reed's Building, in Dunedin, this week. Mr Forbes bought the dilapidated 115-year-old building on the corner of Jetty and Crawford Sts because he could not bear to see it demolished and turned into a car park. The developer of other historic Dunedin buildings, Mr Forbes hoped to see the renovated Reed's property leased by a tertiary education institution and used for artistic or creative studies.
