A 25-year-old man is fighting for his life in Dunedin
Hospital after suffering a serious head injury in a
car-surfing incident in Mosgiel last night.
Emergency services were called to the corner of King and Mure
Sts following reports a man had been injured in a car
accident just before 7pm.
A St John spokesman said the man suffered serious head
injuries. He is now in a critical condition in hospital.
Acting Senior Sergeant Ben Butterfield said only one vehicle
was involved, and "it appears one of the occupants was riding
on the roof".
"He has fallen off the roof at some point and suffered some
pretty serious injuries."
Police were interviewing the occupants of the vehicle, which
remained at the scene.
It was too early to say whether alcohol was a factor.
The Serious Crash Unit would investigate the scene this
morning.
