Dunedin has been hit by the third cruise ship cancellation this season, with high winds scuppering today's visit of the Pacific Dawn.

The P&O vessel, carrying 2050 passengers and 900 crew, was expected to berth at Port Chalmers from Milford Sound this morning.

However high winds have forced the cancellation of the visit.

It is the third time Dunedin has missed out this season.

The Sun Princess was cancelled on November 2, while a planned visit by the Sea Princess on October 14 was cancelled after passengers were stranded on land at Akaroa.
