Despite repeated police warnings, Dunedin residents continue
to leave valuables in unlocked cars, resulting in a spate of
thefts from vehicles.
At least six reports of items stolen from unlocked vehicles
were made to police in the past week.
All involved theft of cash and valuable items from cars
parked on the street in
South Dunedin. Police said most vehicles were targeted by
thieves during the cover of darkness.
Car owners were further warned about providing easy pickings
for thieves by leaving valuables in unlocked vehicles.
