Break-ins at city sports clubs

Sports club members are being reminded to secure their premises after break-ins at city bowling clubs.

On Thursday night, the Roslyn Bowling Club was burgled and cash taken. A window was smashed to gain entry to the Gamma St property.

The Mornington Bowler Club, in Bowler Ave, was targeted early on Sunday morning. The offender was last seen running to nearby English Ave, after taking cash and booze from the property.

Senior Sergeant Mel Aitken said cash was the motivation behind both burglaries, which might be linked.

Police were stepping up patrols of sports clubs and contacting members to remind them to check security and not keep any cash or other valuables on site.
