Chambers elected to health board

Outspoken Dunedin Hospital emergency department specialist John Chambers has been elected to the Southern District Health Board.

Originally from Glasgow, Dr Chambers (57) became a New Zealand citizen in order to be eligible.

He is one of four Otago members on the board.

The others are Richard Thomson, Mary Gamble and Branko Sijna.

The Southland constituency results have yet to be released.

Kaye Crowther, Neville Cook and Tim Ward were elcted for the Southland constituency.
