Quarrying resolution still some way off

A decision on what existing use rights a Dunedin company has to quarry Saddle Hill may be some way off.

If the Environment Court finds the company has no existing use rights, the court could immediately stop quarrying activity on the hill.

The court has found the company has no consent, and that no consent has existed for any company to quarry the hill - a decision the company has appealed.

The council has asked for the existing use rights decision be put on hold until the High Court appeal on the consent decision is resolved. No date has yet been allocated for that hearing.
