Dunedin Venues Management Ltd chief executive Darren Burden's departure was confirmed in a media statement released this afternoon.
Mr Burden has been recruited to join Vbase, the Christchurch City Council's venue management company, which runs CBS Canterbury Arena, Air Force Museum and AMI Stadium.
His move came just over a year after he was named as DVML's chief executive, replacing outgoing chief executive David Davies.
DVML chairman Sir John Hansen made the announcement to staff and key stakeholders this morning.
"We are disappointed to see Darren Burden leave the company so soon after his appointment to CEO but we understand the lure the opportunities Christchurch's rebuild offers him and his family.
"Darren has been with DVML since its inception and we thank him for helping build and then manage what we think is the best stadium in New Zealand.
"We have immediately commenced a recruitment process and have the opportunity to find the right successor as Darren will be with us for up to another six months as he serves out his notice period.''
