Year 6 pupils show their excitement as they leave Andersons Bay School, Dunedin, for the last time yesterday, their final day of school for the year.
While there was plenty of excitement about Christmas and the summer holidays, there was also a touch of sadness for many.
Next year they will head to intermediates or secondary schools to continue their education.
They are among more than 16,000 primary and intermediate pupils who finish school for the year this week.
The 2014 school year will start between January 27 and February 7.
