Society to run Xmas Daybus service

For the third year in a row, the Otago Heritage Bus Society will provide a bus service in Dunedin on Christmas Day.

Traditionally, Otago Regional Council buses do not run on Christmas Day, Good Friday or Easter Sunday in Dunedin.

But the Otago Heritage Bus Society will be running the Suburban Rumbler again on Christmas Day to St Clair, Normanby, St Kilda, Brockville and Halfway Bush.

This Christmas, well-behaved dogs will also be allowed on board the bus, after passengers on the Easter services deemed it a popular addition to the service.

Along the Brockville-Halfway Bush route, the bus will stop at the Dunedin dog park at the corner of Wakari and Taieri Rds to give dog owners a fun destination.

Fares will cost $10 for an unlimited all-day pass to all routes, or a gold coin donation for humans. Dogs can ride free.

Proceeds from the Suburban Rumbler services will go back into restorations and operations of the Otago Heritage Bus Society.
