Neighbours Day Aotearoa will be marked on the Taieri with a picnic and free activities hosted by the East Taieri Church on Saturday at the Silverstream School field.
Families are invited to pack a picnic for a day of free activities from 11am to 2.30pm, including a bouncy castle, horizontal bungee, face painting, sack races, and a doughnut-eating contest.
Otago Neighbourhood Support Charitable Trust regional co-ordinator Kim Romeril said the Taieri was a ''fantastic community''.
''It's so diverse, and it's very tight-knit.''
A ''very connected community'', Mosgiel had a strong network of social and volunteer agencies.
