A 25-year-old demolition worker has now been charged with murder following the death of a 35-year-old man in a central Dunedin bar.

Stephen Anthony Fernyhough was initially charged with assault over the death of Ryan John Court in Craft Bar on April 27.

That charge has now been withdrawn.

Fernyhough pleaded not guilty to the murder charge in Dunedin District Court this morning.

He was remanded in custody to May 20.
