Performing in the Dunedin Fringe Festival has been a tight squeeze for contortionist Skye Broberg.

Broberg plays Petunia Pink in Golden Goose - The Comedy Bingo Show and part of her routine has been folding herself into a 45cm by 45cm by 48cm glass box every night.

‘‘I've always been quite flexible. I'm what's known as a ‘frontbender', so I can put my head between my legs and look at my behind. You get ‘front-benders' and ‘back-benders' and some people can do both,'' she said.

‘‘It can hurt sometimes. It depends on how warm or cold the temperature is. I always do a bit of a warm-up before the show.''

Her act includes squeezing herself through rings and performing bone and ligament defying stunts in her tiny glass prison.

‘‘At one stage, I do a quick costume change inside the box.''

The 35-year-old performer from Melbourne has been living in Christchurch for the past three years.

‘‘I came to New Zealand because I wanted to pursue circus studies full-time and there's a really good arts community here,'' she said.

Broberg works full-time as a contortionist, both as a street performer and for charity and corporate events, and recently completed a national tour for the Heart Kids Foundation.

Golden Goose - The Comedy Bingo Show is on at 7.30pm in the Fringe Lounge until Saturday.
