A 21-year-old has been charged with being drunk in charge of a firearm after two buses and a house were shot at in Dunedin.

Luke Anthony Bonney was in court this morning over the BB gun shootings last Friday morning which shattered two bus windows.

Passengers on a Musselburgh bus told the ODT they watched in horror as a window exploded just behind the driver.

Facing six charges under the Arms Act and three of intentional damage, Bonney didn't enter a plea and was granted a registrar's adjournment until September 26.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
