Tyler Collins (16, left) and youth worker Jethro Schroeder take part in wood-cutting as part of the Farmhand Challenge obstacle course event at Jubilee Park, in the Dunedin suburb of Belleknowes, this week.

The event was to raise funds for and awareness of the Farmhand Project.

The initiative aims to develop a programme to bridge the divide between urban youth and the training and employment opportunities available in the rural sector.

Development of the programme was made possible by a Vodafone Foundation World of Difference grant awarded to Annika Korsten and the Malcam Charitable Trust.

A pilot of the programme will be launched on Monday and will run for 12 weeks.
