Racing men due to appear in court

Four people face court appearances in connection with a long-running fraud investigation.

Yesterday, the Department of Internal Affairs confirmed summons had been served on four people on charges of obtaining by deception.

The four - all men with links to the racing industry - are due to appear in court on February 2.

It is understood the charges are linked to Operation Chestnut, a major joint investigation involving Internal Affairs, police and the Serious Fraud Office.

Operation Chestnut centred around identifying key people involved in the manipulation of gaming machine grants.

Computers were seized in the investigation that began last year.
