The Dunedin City Council has named a replacement for former financial controller Maree Clarke, who resigned last year in the wake of the Citifleet scandal.
Gavin Logie, a senior financial accountant at the University of Otago, was yesterday named as Mrs Clarke's successor.
Mr Logie was a chartered account with 25 years' experience in Dunedin and the United Kingdom, and has worked for the university's financial services division for the past 14 years.
Council group financial officer Grant Mckenzie said Mr Logie's experience would make him ''a great asset'' for the council.
His appointment came after Mrs Clarke announced her resignation in September, and left the council in December, following the discovery of the $1.5 million Citifleet fraud.
Mrs Clarke was not aware of, or involved in the fraud, but as financial controller was responsible for the council's financial reporting and controls, council chief executive Dr Sue Bidrose said at the time.
