Outram sewerage not on books

Reticulating Outram's sewerage scheme is not on the Dunedin City Council's books in the next decade, as it focuses instead on renewing ageing water pipelines around the city.

The Outram community's concerns about the sewerage system overflowing during storms were relayed by Mosgiel-Taieri Community Board chairman Bill Feather to councillors at last week's pre-draft long-term plan meeting.

Council water and waste staff advised the Otago Regional Council had not raised similar concerns with the DCC.

The work would cost up to $10 million and was not in the DCC's long-term budget.

The timing of the project would depend on whether significant further issues surfaced or a decision to put it on the books was made.
