Dubbed during the Best Dressed Dog competition the ''paparazzi pair'', Waitati resident Angela Lyon and her dog Mate cut a striking flurry of tweed and wool at the Blueskin Agricultural and Pastoral Society fair yesterday.

The pair were fresh from winning the competition at the annual event at Bland Park.

Ms Lyon said she had entered every competition she could at Blueskin on Show.

''We're in everything.''

Mate, a fox terrier, was ''completely fine'' with acting as a fashion plate, being used to the concept of wearing jerseys.

Plenty of people turned out for an event society president Alasdair Morrison said was ''actually jolly good'', about midday.

The demographic of the area had changed since the era when the show was more agricultural in nature, and yesterday's event included displays of electric cars along with classic cars, and the Waitati Militia along with more traditional three legged races and sack races.
