Redeveloped RSA to be opened

More than 200 people, including military personnel and community leaders, are expected to attend a ceremony tomorrow to mark the opening of the Mosgiel Memorial RSA's redeveloped building.

Royal New Zealand Returned and Services' Association president Barry Clark will give the keynote address, marking the opening of the $1.2 million redevelopment.

During the six-month redevelopment, the Church St building was stripped, remodelled and refurbished throughout.

The work was made possible because of grants from the Lottery Grants Board, Otago Community Trust, Alexander McMillan Trust, the Southern Victorian Charitable Trust and the A A W Jones Charitable Trust, RSA organisers said.

New spaces have been created for meetings and functions, along with a large cafe, bar and restaurant area.

Mosgiel RSA manager Peter Moore said the Taieri community had strongly supported the new-look building and membership had risen 20% since April.

President Noel Graham said the club was accessible to the wider community, and anyone could become a member.
