Further problems with text messages

Spark is investigating further problems with some customers' text messages this morning.

"We're aware some people are having problems with texts being delayed or not sending," the company said in a Tweet posted just after 10am.

They said anyone experiencing problems should message them and include their cellphone number, the number and network they are trying to send messages to and the time the message was sent, and if it was delayed, the time it was received by the recipient.

"We'll update you when we know more. Thanks for your patience," they said.

Earlier story

The nationwide glitch in Spark cellphone service was resolved yesterday.

A Spark spokeswoman said the two glitches to the Spark services were resolved by 10am yesterday.

The first glitch was a delay in the arrival of text messages and the other glitch - ''a number configuration issue'' - meant texts were still going through, but with senders' numbers presented incorrectly.

The fault occurred because of a planned software upgrade of Spark's text platform on Saturday night, she said.

Spark had no other outstanding issues with its cellphone service, she said.

A 2degrees spokeswoman said its service never had a glitch and it was ''solely a Spark issue''.

However, some of its customers experienced delays when sending and receiving text messages because they had been texting Spark customers.

''We had no issues whatsoever. Our network was operating fine,'' the 2degrees spokeswoman said yesterday.
