The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are scheduled to land at Dunedin Airport at 12.55pm from Wellington.
At 1.15pm, they will be greeted at Mosgiel Railway Station by Dunedin mayor Dave Cull, who will accompany them aboard a Dunedin Railways train to the city.
Prince Charles will visit Animation Research at 2.50pm while Camilla attends a literature event at the University of Otago.
The couple will then visit Orokonui Ecosanctuary at 4pm before returning to Wellington.
The weather forecast is for a sunny day in Dunedin, with a high of 14degC.
The day gets under way for the Royals in Wellington, where Charles starts his official engagements with a visit to Tawa Colleges where he is scheduled to see musical performances, sport demonstrations and a wool event.
At the same time his wife remains in central Wellington at Te Whaea, the National Dance and Drama Centre.
There she will meet drama and dance students there.
In Dunedin, the Royals' visit will involve closures and delays to traffic.
