Melanie Child has been accepted for the railway station show after applying recently, the first time she has had that chance, leaving her with "excitement and nervousness''.
"It's a big step for me. I'll be showcasing alongside some very well-established brands.''
The line-up for the March event was announced by iD Fashion yesterday and includes labels Stolen Girlfriends Club, Zambesi, TUR, Julian Danger and iD International Emerging Designer Awards winner Steve Hall.
They will feature alongside regulars NOM*d, Carlson, Mild-Red, Company of Strangers, DADA Collection and Charmaine Reveley.
Ms Child joins other new designers Amelia Boland Bags and New Lands, from Queenstown's Natalie Newlands, who will show "capsule collections'' of five garments.
The Otago Polytechnic School of Design graduate said after applying last year but not being picked, she tried again this year at the urging of Polytechnic academic leader of fashion Dr Margo Barton.
Ms Child, who showed at the iD International Emerging Designer Awards in 2010, said the exposure at the show would "definitely'' help her design business.
"There's a lot of people looking at your work.''
She showed her designs in Australia in May, and found iD was well known there.
If your work was seen at iD, "they take you more seriously''.
Also showing would be DEVáL, Kingston-based designer Jane Sutherland, and recent polytechnic graduate Daniel Kwok.
Selector and Fashion Quarterly editor Sally-Ann Mullin said there had been a high standard of applicants, and the selection chosen would make for "an exciting and fresh show''.
