Dunedin man Kurt Gillespie caught this 11.4kg salmon, that is nearly as tall as his 4-year-old son Jayson Stroud, in Otago Harbour, near Ravensbourne, on Saturday afternoon.
Mr Gillespie said he struggled with the fish on the end of his line for more than 15 minutes.
He plans to cold-smoke it.
