There are no concerns of rain affecting sports fields to be used for the New Zealand Masters Games in Dunedin.
The competition begins on Saturday and runs until February 7.
Twelve Dunedin City Council grounds to be used for the tournament have had rain in the past few days.
More rain was expected today and tomorrow but it was expected to clear over the weekend.
New Zealand Masters Games volunteer co-ordinator Charlotte Meiklejohn said the rain had not worried organisers.
‘‘A bit of rain before then [Saturday] is not going to hurt. It's probably the best thing for the grounds.''
Football, for which 759 competitors had registered, and softball were the main sports scheduled for outdoor venues, Miss Meiklejohn said.
Officials for each sport would make their own decisions about whether a ground was too wet for play, she said.
All council grounds were open as of last night.
