A young Dunedin man accused of causing the death of an 18-year-old woman in a car crash last year is going to trial.

Shay Robert Richards (19) appeared in the High Court at Dunedin today and pleaded not guilty to charges arising from the accident at the intersection of Stafford and Hope Streets on July 29.

He was remanded on continuing bail for a case review hearing on April 12.

Richards is charged with causing the death of Nakita May Strange by driving recklessly; causing injury to Liam Boniface, Devin Sparrow and Xavier Sardiello also by driving recklessly; failing to render assistance to a fatally injured person and stealing $75.54 of petrol from BP Cumberland St.
