Since relocating her company, akB Conference Management, to a new office at 9 Dowling St, she has been reliant on a neighbour's Wi-Fi in the heart of Dunedin's CBD, which left her ‘‘completely disillusioned'' about GigCity.
She contacted Chorus in early March, before the move, to arrange for gig-speed internet to be switched on by the time she moved in on April 1, but instead, she got a series of frustrating delays and disagreements over the fibre infrastructure already in the building.
She had been told all the infrastructure needed was already in the building, but Chorus technicians had been unable to complete the connection, despite repeated visits.
She was told not to expect a connection before April 28.
However, two technicians arrived yesterday morning to install the gig-speed internet.
While she was delighted it was now working, she declined to comment about whether it had anything to do with the media coverage she had received in Saturday's Otago Daily Times.
‘‘It's great to have it on. Everything is running a lot faster. We're actually able to upload stuff that we haven't been able to for the last couple of weeks.
‘‘The delays have meant that we are now actually running under the pump, which is good. We're not going to complain about being busy.''
