Top clothing on show at fundraiser

Items from a world-renowned clothing collection will feature at a fashion show in Dunedin for the Otago Community Hospice.

The Darnell16 Collection, which includes vintage clothing spanning a range of decades, will be presented at the hospice fundraiser fashion show at the Golden Centre mall on May 19. Darnell curator and author Charlotte Smith said she would bring pieces never shown before to the show.

"I am choosing dresses to fit a theme of empowerment, aspiration and optimism.''

A series of contemporary fashion looks created from garments from hospice shops and put together by staff from the Otago Polytechnic School of Design will also be shown.

Otago Community Hospice chief executive Ginny Green said the hospice needed to raise $460,000 before the end of its financial year on June 30.

The show would be part of Hospice Awareness Week, from May 16-22.
