The Bill to scrap this year's Southern District Health Board election passed its third and final reading in Parliament yesterday.
The New Zealand Public Health and Disability (Southern DHB) Elections Bill passed 95-26 votes.
Labour voted with the Government.
New Zealand First and the Greens opposed the legislation, which will keep the commissioner regime in place until 2019.
