Yvette Williams Retirement Village manager Gail Miller displays a twiddlemuff, a handknitted muff used to not only to keep the hands of dementia sufferers warm, but also to keep them occupied. Knit World customers from throughout New Zealand responded to a charity promotion and knitted 1200 twiddlemuffs for retirement homes.
A representative from Knit World Dunedin delivered 63 twiddlemuffs from Dunedin knitters to the retirement village this week.
Village corporate affairs manager David King said he was "overwhelmed'' and it was a "very, very kind thing to do and it means a lot''.
Knit World Dunedin manager Fiona Murch said customers had been knitting the twiddlemuffs since January.
