Police have confirmed they are investigating a death threat against Stop the Stadium president Bev Butler.
Senior Sergeant Brian Benn, of Dunedin, said yesterday Ms Butler laid a complaint with police in February after a posting in which the author threatened to run her down with a car appeared on a website.
A few days later, Ms Butler laid a second complaint alleging a person impersonating an Australian newspaper journalist called her and verbally abused her.
Police investigating the complaints had so far traced the threatening post to a Netherlands-based website. The file had been passed to the Dunedin CIB for further investigation, Snr Sgt Benn said.
The detective in charge of the file was not able to be contacted yesterday.
