ORC waterfront plans 'parked'

A multi-million proposal to build an office block on the waterfront has been ''parked'' by Otago Regional Councillors.

They decided instead to investigate other options, before adopting a second version of the council's long-term council community plan without the building proposal in it.

Chairman Stephen Cairns said it was never going to be an easy decision but there was no doubt the organisation needed a new building and should be the ''master of its own destiny''.

"It is disappointing for the organisation, disappointing for staff.''
