Individual open men's competitors Blair Coupe (211) leads Andrew Crowley (209) down to the kayaking leg on Day One. Nelson's Tony Baldwin gives his team open men's kayaker Bob McLachlan, of Wanaka, a heave into the Clutha River on Day One. Individual open men's category competitor Dunedin's Matty Graham charges towards the mountain bike leg, leaving from the Roxburgh Dam, on Day One. Individual Open Women's competitor Wanaka's Jo Williams transitions out of the first kayak leg on Day One. The college teams set off on a chilly, dark, early morning mountain bike ride from Manorburn on Day Two. Team Fast's Danielle Lippit completes the 15km run section on Day Two in the open mixed team category. 2009 Goldrush multisport event individual open men's winner Dougal Allan, of Wanaka, finishes the kayaking leg on Day Three.
 
More than 350 multisport athletes spent three days kayaking, cycling, mountain biking and running around Central Otago for the 13th Goldrush. Catherine Pattison was part of a support crew and took her camera along to catch some of the individuals and teams in action.
