The tearful family of a little girl snatched from her home on Auckland's North Shore yesterday has pleaded with her abductor to send her home.

Five-year-old Ma Xin Xin was snatched screaming from her home shortly after midday yesterday and there has been no word of her welfare since.

Her aunt, Hon Zhou, today said the family was devastated and was pleading with her kidnappers to send her home.

She said the little girl would be frightened and confused and would only want to be back with her parents.

At a short press conference in North Shore today, Mrs Zhou said her young niece would not understand what was going on.

"She will be very frightened and will want to be with her family," Mrs Zhou said.

As she delivered her plea, Ma Xin Xin 's mother, Jin Zhou, reached for tissues and wiped tears from her eyes.

Neither the family nor the police would comment any further about the abduction.

Ma Xin Xin was forced screaming into the back of a silver car which stopped outside her family home in Harrowglen, near Albany.
