NZ murder accused sent used condom to rival

A woman told an Australian murder trial jury yesterday that she received a used condom in the mail -- along with a note taunting her about her sex life -- from a New Zealand love rival now facing a charge of murdering the man they both wanted.

The woman, who has not been named, told the Victorian Supreme Court that said she was in a relationship with a man named David Creamer and that his New Zealand wife Eileen pestered her with emails describing her as a "s**t" and "whore", Melbourne's Herald Sun newspaper reported.

Creamer has pleaded not guilty to a charge that on February 4, 2008 she murdered David Creamer, whose body was found in the bedroom of their blood-stained unit.

He had been stabbed in the stomach and hit with a blunt instrument and the defence has not disputed Creamer caused his death at their Moe home in Victoria's east in February 2008.

The woman said she started a relationship with Mr Creamer and he told her his wife Eileen lived in New Zealand they were separated.

She told the court she fell in love with Mr Creamer but she was concerned that he could not severe his ties with his wife.

The woman said on one occasion Creamer emailed her with the message:"David is my husband and you're a slut for sleeping with him. He is using you and you can't see it.

"Take a long look in the mirror. Who are trying to destroy my family? Ask him about the other females he's screwing'."

The woman said that in October 2007 she received an envelope addressed to her workplace and she opened it when she got home.

It contained an empty toilet roll writing on the outside and a serviette inside.

The message said: "Just to tell you how good it was with David. You are not good enough for him. Ha, ha, ha."

"Inside was a used condom," the woman said.

On five occasions the woman said she received envelopes containing cutouts from magazines such as Women's Weekly with stories about people having affairs and getting into trouble.

One of the cutouts had handwriting which read "you silly desperate bitch".

The woman said her relationship with Mr Creamer ended when he went to his native South Africa and returned saying he planned to reunite with his first wife and two boys.

Defence counsel Jane Dixon SC told the jury in her opening statement that Mr Creamer tried to persuade his wife to take part in kinky sex and was driven by sick desires he couldn't control.

Opening the case prosecutor Tom Gyorffy said the couple had an open marriage and they both had a number of lovers they met through the internet.

He said Creamer murdered her husband when she realised their marriage was over and he planned to return to his first wife and children in South Africa.

The trial before Justice Paul Coghlan is continuing.
