Tauranga teen sheepish about planking stunt

A Tauranga schoolboy says he regrets planking in front of an approaching train and he won't be doing it again.

Tauranga Boys' College student Reid Moodie, 15, gained notoriety after a photograph of him lying across a Tauranga railway line last Friday was posted on Facebook.

Reid today told the Bay of Plenty Times the stunt had been a "calculated risk" but said he would not be planking again after being given "a bit of a talking to" by his stepmother.

Planking involves a person lying rigid or straight across unusual or awkward public spaces and photos or video of the 'plank' are posted on the internet.

It came into the spotlight this month after an Australian man fell to his death from the verandah of a high-rise apartment in Brisbane while planking.

Tauranga Boys' College principal Robert Mangan said he would talk to Reid and his parents about the incident.
