Parts of a Napier suburb were cordoned off today after a member of the public reported seeing armed gang members.
A carload of Mongrel Mob members, who were carrying guns, was seen pulling up outside a house in Nuffield Avenue in suburban Marewa at 9.45am.
The Armed Offenders Squad was called, and houses in Nuffield Ave and nearby Williams Street were searched, as well as a car.
Nothing was found in the searches.
People in one of the houses were told to leave during the incident, but were later allowed to return.
A spokesman at Hawkes Bay police said officers have been stood down.
