A person is dead after a crash in Tokoroa this afternoon, a
community still reeling from the deaths of a family of five
in a crash less than a week ago.
A Fire Service spokeswoman said the latest fatality occurred
at the intersection of State Highway 1 and East Parkdale St
about 4.25pm.
One person died at the scene after a car left the road.
No-one else was thought to have been injured, she said.
Emergency services had set up traffic diversions in the area.
On Tuesday, forestry workers discovered the bodies of five
family members, including three children, off nearby State
Highway 32.
The vehicle was thought to have been there with their bodies
inside since Sunday.
Another two people were killed on Tuesday when a car collided
with a truck on State Highway 1, about 30km away.
