Choppers help fight Northland forest fire

Three helicopters have been called in to fight a forest fire in Northland.

At latest reports the fire was covering an area of about 20 hectares.

The alarm was raised about 9.30am today and fire crews were called to Kelly's Bay, 50km south east of Dargaville.

It is believed the Department of Conservation is running the operation.

Kelly's Bay is a small beach settlement on the western shoreline of the northern arm of the Kaipara Harbour.
