A man ran over and killed his wife last night in what police
are treating as a horrific accident.
Emergency services were called when the man reversed over the
woman in a 4WD farm vehicle on a lifestyle block in a rural
area on Ellesmere Rd, near Lincoln at 8pm.
The woman, believed to be a high school teacher aged in her
50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident happened in a utility area within the property,
which has sheep and cows grazing on it.
It is being treated as an accidental death, said Detective
Sergeant Richard Quested.
"Police are undertaking a scene examination to confirm the
circumstances of the accident," he said.
The matter will now be referred to the coroner.
A neighbour Andre Davies said the couple had lived there for
about a year.
She described the woman as a high school teacher, who was a
"lovely, beautiful woman".
The man owned a spraying business and the couple had grown-up
children, Mrs Davies said.
