A fish and chip shop in Ashburton has been gutted by a fire overnight.
The chippy, on Creek Rd, went up in flames around 4am.
The large fire caused serious damage to the takeaway, fire service communications shift manager Riwai Grace said.
Fire investigators will examine the scene today to determine the cause of the blaze.
