Man killed in New Plymouth crash named

Police have released the name of a man who died following a three-vehicle crash in New Plymouth this morning.

He was Bruce Atkin, a 62-year-old Canadian national who was living in New Plymouth.

Police said the crash occurred just before 7.30am at the intersection of Egmont and Bishop Roads, and involved a large truck, a car and a motorcycle.

Mr Atkin was the sole occupant of the car.

Police said preliminary indications suggest the car had pulled out into the path of an oncoming truck.

Neither the truck driver nor the motorcyclist were injured.

Numerous diversions that were set up after the crash have been lifted.
