A motorist fleeing police got trapped when he tried to escape
by driving over Auckland harbour's tidal sands.
The driver of the Mercedes evaded police on Karangahape Rd in
central Auckland yesterday, before heading west and on to the
beach at Westmere.

to the beach, Senior Sergeant Paul Housley said.
The driver and another man who was his passenger were then

Once the car became stuck, it was a relatively easy end to
