Man dies after road rage incident

A man has died following a row between two motorists in Christchurch last month.

The man, aged in his 60s, suffered a head injury, in what police are describing as a traffic dispute, on Monday November 24.

He died early this morning at Christchurch Hospital. A post mortem was conducted today, police said.

Witnesses described two men engaged in a dispute on Harper Ave, about 100m from Carlton Corner, at around 3pm.

One of the men was driving a dark coloured people-mover, and the other a dark coloured sedan.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.

"Police are investigating the circumstances which resulted in the man receiving the head injury and ask anyone who witnessed this incident to contact them," Canterbury CIB field crime manager, Detective Inspector Greg Murton, said.

"Canterbury Police's Serious Crash Unit and CIB are working together on the investigation."

The man's name would not be released until next of kin were informed, police said.
